Why study western martial arts?

Do I need to have done martial arts, or fencing, previously to join?
No, you do not need any previous martial skills to join, as all the skills needed for western martial arts are taught from a base level.
What do I need to wear for my first session?
A T-shirt, tracksuit trousers and training shoes are all that is required to begin with!
How are the sessions structured?
First part: stretching exercises, and usually new wrestling techniques.
Second part: Some dagger work.
Third (main) )part: Longsword techniques This is main focus of the session.
Time permitting, sparring may take place afterwards, in which you will have the opportunity to fight with a partner.
What will I be studying to begin with?
The first thing you will learn is the Longsword, based on the writings of 14th and 15th Century Masters. After that, weapons that can be studied include wrestling and dagger, sword and buckler and rapier and dagger.
To join in, all you need to do is come along to a Tuesday session at Swindon Punjabi Community Centre, between 8:00Pm and 10:00PM.
